How to Have Your UVU Graduation Photos Done (Without the Stress!)
Utah Valley University Graduation Photos
Graduating from UVU is a huge milestone—one that deserves to be celebrated and remembered with photos that actually feel like you. Whether you want classic campus shots, something more scenic, or a mix of both, here’s your guide to planning UVU graduation photos you’ll love for years to come.
Choose Two Locations That Matter to You
One of the easiest ways to add variety and personalization to your session is by choosing two different locations—one on campus and one off. This gives you the perfect mix of meaningful and scenic.
For this session pictured, we did exactly that:
- Jordan Pines up Big Cottonwood Canyon for mountain views and glowing pine forest scenery
- The Liberal Arts and Library buildings at UVU, because those spaces played an important role in her college experience
You can replicate this idea by choosing:
- A favorite study spot
- A building from your major
- Your work-study location
- A scenic overlook, field, or canyon outside of campus
- A place you hung out with friends
- Or anywhere that feels like “you” during your UVU chapter
There are no rules—just pick places tied to memories or places where you feel confident and comfortable.
The Best Time to Take UVU Graduation Photos
If you want clean backgrounds, fewer people, or if you’re a little shy about being photographed while others are around, timing matters.
To avoid heavy crowds in your UVU graduation photos, plan your session during:
- Weekends
- Early mornings (sunrise is beautiful and quiet!)
- Holiday breaks
- Between semesters
These times help keep people out of the background and make the whole experience more relaxed and comfortable.
And remember—you don’t have to take your graduation photos on campus at all. If campus doesn’t feel like “your place,” choose a location that does. Scenic spots, canyons, and favorite Utah views work just as well for gorgeous UVU graduation portraits.
Include the People (and Pets!) Who Made This Chapter Special
Your college years were shaped by the people around you—so feel free to bring them along!
You can include:
- Your partner
- Close friends
- Pets
- Your study group
- Roommates
- Siblings or parents
Your UVU graduation photos should tell the story of your journey, not just the moment you received your degree.
