From Wedding to Graduation
Ruby’s Utah Graduation Photos + 5-Year Anniversary Session
Throwback to 2020 before these Utah graduation photos.
Back in 2020, I had the absolute honor of photographing Ruby and Carlos’ wedding. If you remember 2020, you know it was not the easiest time to get married—or be a wedding photographer! It was pure chaos in the world, and also in my own life: I was in my last year of nursing school, juggling assignments, clinicals, and my sweet twin boys at home, all while pouring every ounce of energy I had into growing my dream of becoming a wedding photographer.
Ruby and Carlos trusted me during a time when I was still learning and dreaming and stretching in a million directions—and I’ll never forget that. Their wedding will always have a really special place in my heart.
A Full Circle Moment
Fast forward three years, and I got to document Ruby’s first college graduation. Then, two years later—this session happened. Not only was it a celebration of her second graduation, but it also marked their fifth wedding anniversary.
Ruby’s parents had traveled all the way from Spain to be here for this milestone, and capturing those moments with them felt so meaningful. She translated for them during the shoot (because sadly I don’t speak Spanish—yet!), and I loved seeing how proud they were of her.
A Chilly Morning with So Much Warmth
We started indoors at the state capital building, which was our main focus, but we were lucky enough to sneak outside for a few shots too. It had snowed that morning, so I wasn’t sure we’d get anything outdoors—but we made it work! The cherry blossoms were long gone, but honestly, it didn’t matter. The energy, the joy, the love between all of them—that’s what I cared about documenting.
Why I Love Utah Graduation Sessions
Sessions like this are what I live for. There’s something so full-circle about photographing a couple’s wedding and then getting to see them years later, celebrating all the things they’ve accomplished together. These kinds of milestones deserve to be documented—every bit as much as a wedding day.
So if you’re graduating in Utah and wondering if a photo session is worth it—it is. Whether you’re celebrating with your partner, your parents flew in from across the world, or you’re just dang proud of yourself (as you should be!), I’d love to help you remember it all.

Utah college graduation photos aren’t just about a cap and gown. They’re about everything you’ve overcome to get there. And I’m here for it—all of it.
