Teton Elopement
An Elopement in the Tetons:
As I woke up early in our cozy Airbnb overlooking the majestic Tetons, I knew it was going to be a magical day. The air was crisp, the sun was just beginning to rise, and the excitement of capturing a beautiful intimate wedding was palpable. The couple was getting ready, surrounded by close family and friends, and I couldn’t wait to start capturing those special moments.
We started off the day with getting ready photos, capturing the intricate details of the bride’s dress, the groom’s boutonniere, and all the little touches that made this day so special. Then, we headed off to Glacier View Turnout for the ceremony. The permit time was set between 9-11am, right in the peak of the sun’s rays. This time of day in September the sun was already in full force creating shadows across the mountains and the couple.
It is important to note for a softer, more even lighting, a permit time during sunrise or sunset would be ideal. However, I understood that permits can be hard to come by, especially in such a popular and breathtaking location like Grand Teton National Park.
Despite the challenges of the harsh sunlight, I focused on finding angles and techniques to still capture the emotion and beauty of the moment. As we wrapped up the ceremony and moved on to family portraits against the stunning backdrop of the Tetons, I couldn’t help but feel grateful to be a part of such a special day.
Navigating the logistics and permits required for a wedding in a national park like Grand Teton can be overwhelming, but it’s all worth it when you see the joy and love radiating from the couple and their loved ones. The stunning landscapes, the intimate moments, and the connections shared make it all worthwhile.
For couples considering an intimate wedding in Grand Teton National Park, I highly recommend planning ahead, securing permits early, and being open to the beauty and challenges that come with outdoor weddings. The memories created in a place like the Tetons are truly unparalleled, and as a photographer, I feel lucky to be able to capture those moments for eternity.
Venue: Grand Teton National Park
When hosting an event at Grand Teton National Park, it is important to be mindful of the park’s natural beauty and delicate ecosystem. One recommendation would be to encourage guests to carpool or use shuttle services to reduce the impact of traffic on the park’s roads and wildlife. Additionally, providing reusable or biodegradable materials for food and beverage service can help minimize waste and preserve the park’s stunning landscape for future generations to enjoy.
