An Elopement in the Tetons:

As I woke up early in our cozy Airbnb overlooking the majestic Tetons, I knew it was going to be a magical day. The air was crisp, the sun was just beginning to rise, and the excitement of capturing a beautiful intimate wedding was palpable. The couple was getting ready, surrounded by close family and friends, and I couldn’t wait to start capturing those special moments.

We started off the day with getting ready photos, capturing the intricate details of the bride’s dress, the groom’s boutonniere, and all the little touches that made this day so special. Then, we headed off to Glacier View Turnout for the ceremony. The permit time was set between 9-11am, right in the peak of the sun’s rays. This time of day in September the sun was already in full force creating shadows across the mountains and the couple.

It is important to note for a softer, more even lighting, a permit time during sunrise or sunset would be ideal. However, I understood that permits can be hard to come by, especially in such a popular and breathtaking location like Grand Teton National Park.

Despite the challenges of the harsh sunlight, I focused on finding angles and techniques to still capture the emotion and beauty of the moment. As we wrapped up the ceremony and moved on to family portraits against the stunning backdrop of the Tetons, I couldn’t help but feel grateful to be a part of such a special day.
